I’m Nick Bielawski for hvacbusinessgrowth.com and this is another news update.

This week, the Social Media Examiner surveyed the top social media professionals about what the trends will be in 2013. Right across the board, from all the experts that they surveyed, they all said that visual medium is going to be particularly important this year.

So things like videos and images are going to be really really important on your website. So, if you don’t have a video on your website or any strong images, then I highly suggested that you do so. It’s going to help to cut through the noise when people are visiting your website and grab their attention.

In the same survey, the experts also predicted that Google+ will be a big player this year. Not really from a content distribution point-of-view but more as a central hub to actually manage your Google profile. I think it’s going to be particularly important this year.

Search Engine Watch also released an article that echoes that sentiments from Social Media Examiner. They had a stat that said that over 85% of people in the United States watch a video of about 5 minutes in length in December.

So what this is telling us is that video is a really really important medium at the moment. People from young to old, to upper class to middle class and the lower class are all watching videos.

So, if you have some HVAC products or services that are really directed at that consumer or residential type of market, I think it’s important that you include videos into your marketing strategy leading back to your website and as a conversion tool on your own website.

In these news updates, they’ve been reporting that mobile traffic is really on the increase across most industries. In fact, in the heating and cooling industry a lot of business owners I’ve been speaking to, when they check their Analytics, they’ve been reporting that mobile traffic is increasing every single month.

So if you’re not doing mobile websites at the moment or your website isn’t optimized for mobile, I suggest that you really get on that straight away. I think it’s going to be another continuation of the trend from 2012 moving into 2013. And if you are using mobile technology, then I think you should look at incorporating videos into your mobile marketing plan. Again, it’s going to help you cut through the noise and you’re going to be able to convert a lot more sales.

The message from both of these podcasts is loud and clear; that 2013 is going to be a year where you really have to try to stand out from the crowd with good marketing and good content.
